DSU President Wants State Funds for Athletic Facility

DOVER, Del.

Delaware State University President Allen Sessoms says the school can’t wait another 35 years for a civic center in Dover.

He’s asking instead that the state contribute to the cost of a new indoor sports facility on the campus for basketball and other sports.

In a meeting Thursday with budget officials from the governor’s office, Sessoms requested 10 million dollars for the building, half of the projected cost.

Sessoms says if, and when, a civic center gets built, the Hornets will play there because it will be better than the campus facility now being planned. The civic center has been discussed for decades.
