NASA and UC Schools to Create Silicon Valley Research Campus

MOFFETT FIELD, Calif.
NASA researchers hope to launch new scientific innovations when they team up with scientists from the University of California at a proposed research park in Silicon Valley.
The two groups said recently they would work to open an educational research and development campus within 10 years. The focus of the work will be nanotechnology, biotechnology and information technology.
Nearby UC-Santa Cruz would be the center’s connection to the University System, UC President Dr. Richard Atkinson said in a news release. A preliminary land use plan filed by the groups shows the site would cover at least 65 acres. UC plans to have at least 2,000 students attending classes after construction.
