Clarence Clay CLARENCE D. “CLAY” ARMBRISTER has been named president at Johnson C. Smith University, effective January 1, 2018. He currently serves as the president of Girard College. Armbrister earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
