The AMERICAN INDIAN COLLEGE FUND has been awarded $128,000 for scholarship funds from the UPS Foundation. The funds will be available to American Indian students for the 2008-09 academic year.

A new $700,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic safety has been awarded to eight California State University campuses to reduce alcohol abuse among students. CSU CHANNEL ISLANDS, FRESNO, HUMBOLDT, LOS ANGELES, MARITIME ACADEMY, NORTHRIDGE, SAN JOSE AND SAN FRANCISCO have been awarded mini-grants to implementinitiatives to reduce DUIs.

THE COLLEGE BOARD has received a $680,000 grant from the James Irvine Foundation to train new counselors to promote a collegegoing culture at public schools with diverse student populations. HUSTON-TILLOTSON UNIVERSITY (Texas) has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Lola Wright Foundation to upgrade the ventilation systems in the science building.
