The College of Engineering and Computer Science at CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, NORTHRIDGE, has received a $10,000 donation from alumnus Peter M. Leonhardt to be used for scholarships for working students.

CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY’S NANCE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION has been awarded $150,000 from the Key Foundation to create the KeyBank Student Managed Investment Fund. The funds will allow students to gain experience in managing investment portfolios.

The Duke Endowment of Charlotte, N.C., has awarded $40 MILLION TO DUKE UNIVERSITY (N.C.) to create more than 30 new faculty positions. Specifically, the gift will fully endow 10 new assistant professorships and 10 associate professorships at a cost of $25 million. It also will provide $15 million to establish 12 new endowed full professorships.

The FLORIDA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY has received $5 MILLION from the Harris Corporation Charitable Fund to create the Harris Institute for Assured Information. The institute will work to solve information security problems globally.

The UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT CHICAGO has received a $2.4 MILLION grant from the National Institute of Nursing Research to create a center to study patients as they transition to the end of life.

The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded the FLORIDA CENTER FOR THE LITERARY ARTS AT MIAMI DADE COLLEGE $20,000 to host the Big Read program that encourages the reading of classic novels in the community. It is the third consecutive year thatthe center has received this grant.

NEW YORK CITY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY/CUNY has received a $29,959 grant from the Humanities Grants for Faculty at Institutions with High Hispanic enrollment program of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The year-long faculty development program will focus on the history of downtown Brooklyn.
