The UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA LIBRARIES has received $40,000 from the Elsevier Foundation for the information/library needs assessment for medical research and health care delivery initiatives in Botswana.

The A. JAMES CLARK SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, COLLEGE PARK, has received a $1.2 MILLION grant from the National Institutes of Health for research in auditory neuroscience. Researchers will work to understand how acoustic modulations, speech and other sounds are encoded in the auditory cortex.

The UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY OF NEW JERSEY has received a $65,000 grant from the International Diabetes Federation for the university hospital to tailor diabetes interventions to lowincome and minority groups.
