Edmond Named Interim President at Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.

Alabama A&M University Provost Dr. Beverly Edmond has been named interim president of the school.

Her appointment came Saturday during a trustees meeting in which the two leading candidates for the post withdrew and where Gov. Bob Riley’s newest appointment to the board, Leroy Richie of Detroit, was introduced.

Edmond, who came to A&M in the spring of 2006, said she had no clue she might be appointed interim president.

The former president, Dr. Robert Jennings, was fired by the board on March 31.
