Professional Appointments

Dr. Edna Mora Szymanski has been appointed president of Minnesota State University, Moorhead, effective in July. She currently serves as senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Maine. Szymanski holds a bachelor’s from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a master’s from the University of Scranton and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.

DR. JEANNE ARNOLD has been appointed first vice president for inclusion and equity at Grand Valley State University (Mich.). She earned a bachelor’s from The Pennsylvania State University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

 

 

DR. ARLINDA J. EATON has been appointed dean of the Bagwell College of Education at Kennesaw State University (Ga.), effective July 1. Eaton holds a bachelor’s from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.

 

DR. WALLACE D. LOH has been named provost of the University of Iowa, effective Aug. 1. He earned a bachelor’s from Grinnell College, a master’s from Cornell University, a doctorate from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Yale University.

 

 

DR. SHARON MILLER has been named provost for the Winter Haven campus of Polk Community College (Fla.). Previously, she served as dean of Hillsborough Community College. Miller earned a bachelor’s from the University of South Florida, a master’s from Nova Southeastern University and a doctorate from USF.

DR. JAMES MOORE, III has been named the first director of the Todd Anthony Bell National Resource Center on the African-American Male at The Ohio State University. He earned a bachelor’s from Delaware State University, and a master’s and doctorate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

 

GENEVA OVERHOLSER has been appointed director of the School of Journalism at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication. She earned a bachelor’s from Wellesley College and a master’s from Northwestern University.

 

 

DR. S. ALAN RAY of the Cherokee nation has been named president of Elmhurst College (Ill.), effective July 1. Ray earned a bachelor’s from St. Thomas Seminary College, a master’s from Harvard Divinity School, a master’s and doctorate from the Harvard University and a law degree from the University of California, Hastings.

 

JOHN ROTHCHILD has been named associate dean of the law school at Wayne State University (Mich.). Previously, he served as an associate professor at the law school. Rothchild earned a bachelor’s from Princeton University and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
