CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, BAKERSFIELD, has received $1 MILLION from the CSU system, which received funds from the Bernard Osher Foundation to be distributed. The monies will go to support a scholarship endowment fund at CSU Bakersfield.

Twelve faculty members at OHIO UNIVERSITY have been awarded a $124,000 grant by the Ohio University Research Committee and the University Post-Doctoral Fellow Program for new research, scholarship and creative works.

QUEENSBOROUGH COMMUNITY COLLEGE (N.Y.) has received a $62,000 grant from the G-Unity Foundation for scholarships. Five new students at the college this fall will receive the funds to pursue an associate degree.

SAINT AUGUSTINE’S COLLEGE (N.C.) has received a $400,000 grant from The Andrew Mellon Foundation to enhance student learning and retention.

SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY (La.) has received $34,950 from the ExxonMobil Foundation under the foundation’s Educational Matching Gift Program.

With a $1.8 MILLION grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the SOUTHERN EDUCATION FOUNDATION has fulfilled requirements to create a $6 million endowment for the Center to Serve Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Income from the endowment will provide about $300,000 annually to support technical assistance, research and leaders of HBCUs.

The UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA AT BIRMINGHAM has received a $3 MILLION, fiveyear grant from the National Institutes of Health to head an initiative to reduce health disparities among older Blacks in rural areas.

The UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY, has received $2 MILLION from the Dow Chemical Co. Foundation for a program that supports environmental sustainability.

The UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS has received a $10,000 grant from the University of Southern California’s Center for Enrollment Research, Policy and Practice to explore student access to higher education.
