COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY has received a $3.1 MILLION gift from the Monfort Family Foundation to provide support for Monfort scholars and professors and the Monfort Lecture Series, among other things.

The COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF BALTIMORE COUNTY has received a $30,000 grant as part of the MetLife Foundation Community College Excellence Award. The college was chosen because of its ability to demonstrate determined leadership, innovative programming and attention to outcomes.

CORNELL COLLEGE (Iowa) has received a $500,000 gift from alumni Dick and Beth Brubaker to bolster the college’s endowment fund. The funds will go toward bringing speakers to campus, creating more opportunities for student off-campus study and improving athletic facilities.

LEHIGH UNIVERSITY (Penn.) has received a $34.2 MILLION gift for scholarships from the estate of alumnus Donald Stabler, who passed away in 1997. The gift is the largest Lehigh has ever received.

NORTH CAROLINA A&T STATE UNIVERSITY has received a one-year, $100,000 grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for the school’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences. The funds will be used to help Black College Wire become self-sustaining.

NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY has received a gift of $25,000 as part of a settlement that attorney and NCCU alum Richard Gusler reached between the legendary rock band “The Eagles” and gubernatorial candidate Richard Moore, who was sued for using one of the band’s songs on his campaign Web site.

PURDUE UNIVERSITY (Ind.) has received from Engineered Software Inc. $25,000 worth of software licenses and technical support for its College of Technology.

SAINT VINCENT COLLEGE (Penn.) has received a $7 MILLION grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation to build the Sis and Herman Dupré Science Complex that will house the Herbert W. Boyer School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computing.

TEXAS WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY has received a $750,000 grant from the Jane and John Justin Foundation for the university’s new T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences- Dallas Center.

The UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-COLUMBIA has received a $1.84 MILLION grant from the National Institutes of Health to provide opportunities for minority students to become scientific leaders in biomedical research.

The UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA’S HILLEL: THE FOUNDATION FOR JEWISH CAMPUS LIFE has received a $250,000 matching grant for its capital campaign by an anonymous family foundation.
