Gore to Teach at Fisk University, Columbia, UCLA, Middle Tennessee State UniversityWashington
From politician to professor, former Vice President Al Gore has a series of professorial duties on the horizon. Among them, the Tennessee native's first plan is to lead a series of lectures at Fisk, a historically Black university in Nashville. From his position at Fisk, he will lead a series of lectures at other predominately Black institutions.
The Fisk job will be shared with Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and civil rights leader who graduated from Fisk.
Gore formally announced his plans last month to study or teach about journalism, the family and race relations at Columbia University, the University of California at Los Angeles and Middle Tennessee State University in addition to Fisk. Gore and his wife, Tipper, also plan to write a book about American families and their challenges.
At UCLA, Gore will help develop a curriculum on "family-centered community building." A former journalist himself, Gore will lecture at Columbia on reporting on national affairs in the Information Age. From his position at Middle Tennessee State University, Gore will lead a series of lectures at community colleges around Tennessee.
