DR. ALISON RABIL has been named assistant vice provost at Duke University. Previously, she served as financial aid director at Barnard College. She earned a bachelor’s fromBarnard and twomaster’s degrees and a doctorate fromColumbia University.

AUSTIN ASHE has been appointed associate director of alumni and parent relations at Quinnipiac University (Conn.). Previously, he served as a residence director at Boston College. Ashe earned a bachelor’s from Quinnipiac and a master’s from Springfield College.

SUMNER HUTCHESON III has been named vice president for institutional advancement at Florida Memorial University. Previously, he served as vice president for advancement and development at Florida International University. Hutcheson earned a bachelor’s from Bethune-Cookman University and a master’s from Barry University.

DR. LAURA LEIN has been named dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Michigan. Formerly, she served as a professor of social work and anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin. Lein earned a bachelor’s from Swarthmore College and master’s and doctoral degrees fromHarvard University.

DR. ROOSEVELT NEWTON has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bowie State University. Previously, he served as dean of the College of Fine Arts and a professor of music at Illinois State University. Newton earned a bachelor’s from Southern University at Baton Rouge and amaster’s and doctorate fromJohns Hopkins University.

BILL PURCELL has been named director of Harvard’s Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Previously, he served as founding dean of the College of Public Service and Urban Affairs at Tennessee State University. Purcell earned a bachelor’s from Hamilton College and a law degree from Vanderbilt University.
