Professional Appointment

VALERIE PEÑA has been appointed to the newly created position of executive director and chief of staff for the Office of Public Affairs and Government Relations at Indiana University. Peña previously served as executive director of the Bloomington/ Monroe County Convention Center and Visitors Bureau. She holds a bachelor’s from the University of Oklahoma.

 

 

DR. JEFFREY SCOTT is a grant development specialist in the Office of Diversity and Educational Equity at the State University of New York. Scott most recently served as the director of the Hudson Mohawk Association of Colleges and Universities. He earned a bachelor’s from Union College and a doctorate from the University at Buffalo.

 

 

JOHNNIE B. WATSON is president of LeMoyne-Owen College (Tenn.). He previously served as interim president. Watson earned a bachelor’s from LeMoyne-Owen College and a master’s from Indiana University.

 

 

KENNETH WESTARY has been named vice president of institutional advancement at the Community College of Baltimore County (Md.). He formerly served as vice president for institutional advancement at Johnson C. Smith University. Westary holds a bachelor’s from Towson University and an MBA from the University of Baltimore.
