ALABAMA STATE UNIVERSITY has received $50,000 in scholarship grants from the Coca-Cola Foundation for first-generation college students.

CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, DOMINGUEZ HILLS has received $50,000 from the Verizon Foundation to support first-generation college students.

CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, NORTHRIDGE has received a $10,000 gift from Citi for its Bookstein Institute for Higher Education In Taxation. The funds will be used to support the institute’s initiative that provides free educational seminars for small business owners in the Los Angeles area.

FORSYTH TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE (N.C.) has received a $249,439 grant from the Duke Energy Community College Grant Program to support an analytical training center.

MILLS COLLEGE (Calif.) has received a $750,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to help resolve teacher shortages in science and math. Thirty-six graduate students in the School of Education will receive $15,000 scholarships, and 12 seniors in science and math will receive $10,000 scholarships through the grant.

Researchers at NORTH CAROLINA AGRICULTURAL AND TECHNICAL STATE UNIVERSITY have received $770,180 from the Department of Defense for a proposal that focuses on the production of biopower and biodiesel from waste materials to improve energy security and mitigate the impact of gas emissions on the environment.

SANTA CLARA UNIVERSITY (Calif.) has received a $7 MILLION gift from its departing president Mary Matthews-Stevens and her husband, Mark, for a student activity center.

TOURO COLLEGE (N.Y.) has received a $1.9 MILLION gift for its Lander Center for Educational Research from the U.S. Department of Education to operate one of 10 national Equity Assistance Centers. These centers provide states, school districts and public schools help on issues of race, gender and national origin.

Researchers at VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY have been awarded $2.4 MILLION from the National Science Foundation to investigate ways to get more females in information technology careers in Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
