CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, NORTHRIDGE has received a $200,000 grant from State Farm Insurance to develop an arts program that would bring K-12 students from the San Fernando Valley to the CSUN campus.

The Department of Journalism at COLUMBIA COLLEGE CHICAGO has received a $10,000 grant from the Tribune Foundation to support the school’s Minority Journalism Internship program. The monies will provide minority graduate and undergraduate interns with stipends.

THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF BALTIMORE COUNTY (MD.) has received $18,000 from the Baltimore Community Foundation to support its “Healthy Teeth for Children” initiative, which provides oral health to students in several local Head Start programs. The funds will be used to supply materials for the program.

FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY has received a $100,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to aid students from underrepresented groups enroll in accelerated nursing programs. Students who have already earned bachelor’s degrees but want to become nurses received the funds.

NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Scholarship Endowment Fund has received a $100,000 gift from the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina to provide a $1,000 annual scholarship to juniors and seniors pursuing a career in business.

The Institute for Advanced Journalism Studies at NORTH CAROLINA A&T STATE UNIVERSITY has received a $254,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support the institute’s One Society Journalism Program, which works to increase diversity in journalism.

OBERLIN COLLEGE (OHIO) has received a $812,00 grant from the Great Lakes Protection Fund for a four-year pilot project that will develop new approaches to monitoring personal and community-wide electricity and water consumption.
