Professional Appointments

Kamili Anderson has been appointed director of the Howard University Press. Formerly she was the associate editor at the Journal of Negro Education and a staff writer for Black Issues In Higher Education. Anderson earned a bachelor's in human nutrition and biochemistry from Howard University and is a graduate of the Howard University Press Book Publishing Institute.

Gerald K. Bloodsaw has been named vice president for institutional advancement at Virginia Union University in Richmond. Previously, Bloodsaw was director of corporate and foundation relations, director of development and, most recently, gift planning officer at Northern Illinois University. Bloodsaw earned a bachelor's from Hillsdale College in Michigan and a master's from the University of Detroit-Mercy.

Patricia Esnard-daniel, a development associate at Dillard University in New Orleans, is one of three staff members selected to be a Kresge Fellow by the Kresge Foundation in Atlanta. The program seeks to enhance the skills of African American professionals. Esnard-Daniel earned a bachelor's in psychology from Loyola University in New Orleans.

LaDoris Hazzard Cordell has been named vice provost and special counsel to the president for campus relations at Stanford University. Cordell was the first Black female judge in Northern California, where she served since 1982. She has also served at Stanford as assistant dean for student affairs at the law school. Cordell earned a bachelor's from Antioch College and a juris doctorate from Stanford.

Dr. Rodney D. Smith has been appointed president of Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J., effective July 1. Formerly, Smith was vice president for planning and dean of the Graduate College at Hampton University in Hampton, Va. Smith earned a bachelor's from Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn., master's degrees from Fisk and Harvard universities and a doctorate in education from Harvard.

Dr. Melvin C. Terrell, vice president for Student Affairs at Northeastern Illinois University was named to the national board of the Health Education and Leadership Program. Terrell will participate in a nationwide initiative, which recognizes the correlation between student health and student performance. Terrell earned a bachelor's from Chicago State University; a master's from Loyola University and a doctorate from Southern Illinois University.
