Morris Brown College Partners With Online Education Company for New Business Plan

Dr. Benjamin Chavis, president of Education Online Services Corp., and Morris Brown College in Atlanta are partnering to launch several full online degree programs for Morris Brown students.

Morris Brown College board members, faculty and staff will assist the EOServe Corp. executive team as they convert existing campus-based courses to an online format. In addition, the company is customizing new course offerings and an online student information and management system as well as supplying Web tutoring services.

“We were thoroughly impressed with the dedication of the Morris Brown faculty, the passion and commitment of the president of the college,” Chavis said.

Morris Brown is currently facing serious financial challenges. The institution has struggled to keep its doors open and the water flowing. In March, the school paid its $380,000 overdue water bill in full, after facing the possibility of closing parts of the campus.

EOServe Corp. will work with Morris Brown faculty and staff to assess the needs and capabilities of online curriculum and support service. Morris Brown will also receive assistance and support in various areas, including marketing, recruiting, enrollment, retention, tutoring and financial aid.

“Our new business plan at Morris Brown calls for a global education initiative, and using online programming is the approach best suited to meet this objective,” said acting Morris Brown College President Stanley Pritchett. “In addition to the recent high school graduate who prefers an online degree, we will work toward reaching the adult student, who didn’t complete requirements for their undergraduate degree, to take advantage of this program. High on the list will be those former Morris Brown students who dropped out before realizing their goals of earning a college degree.”
