Survey Says More Students Headed to Private Colleges Despite Economy

Despite the tough economic recession, private universities and colleges across the nation are seeing an incresae in enrollment for the upcoming school year.

 According to the Daily Texan online, responses from 284 private institutions throughout the nation projected a rise in average enrollment by 0.2 percent above the previous fall. 

 

UIUC Board Chair Denies Seeking Favor in ‘Clout List’

University of Illinois Board of Trustees Chairman Niranjan Shah says he denies seeking special treatment for his family members or any other applicant to the university.  According to the News-Gazette, Shah pointed fingers at his assistant, Chancellor Richard Herman and former UI President James Stukel.  Shah testified Tuesday before the Illinois Admissions Review Commission. 

 

Fee Increases Planned for  CSU Schools

California State University, Monterey Bay, students will pay an additional $978 in fees next fall, and university employees will take a 9.2 percent pay cut as the California State University System grapples with a $3 billion cut in state funding.
