Professional Appointments

Dr. Gerald Gipp has been named executive director of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC). Prior to joining AIHEC, Gipp was program director for the National Science Foundation's division of educational system reform. Gipp earned a bachelor's from Ellendale State Teachers College and both a master's and doctorate from Penn State.

Dr. Keenan Grenell has been named director of the master's of public administration program at Auburn University in
Alabama. Grenell is an associate professor of political science at Auburn. He earned a bachelor's from Tougaloo College in
Mississippi, a master's from Mississippi State University and a doctorate from Northern Illinois University.

Michael B. Hill has been appointed vice president for development and external relations at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. Previously, Hill was senior vice president for university advancement at Tuskegee University. Hill earned a bachelor's from Central Connecticut State
University and a master's from Drexel
University.
Dr. Earl Smith has been elected the 21st president of the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport. Smith is chairman of the sociology department at Wake Forest University. Smith earned a bachelor's from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and both a master's and a doctorate from the University of Connecticut.

Owen L. Watkins has been named director of the Office of Minority Affairs at the Community College of Baltimore County in Maryland. He earned both a bachelor's in business marketing and a master's in counseling and human development with an emphasis in student personnel services in higher education from Radford
University.

Dr. Marcellette G. Williams has been named interim chancellor of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst campus effective July 1. Williams is currently deputy chancellor and a tenured professor of English and comparative literature. Williams earned a bachelor's, a master's and a doctorate from Michigan State
University.
