North Carolina Police kill College Student From Houston

Houston native Courtland Benjamin Smith, a junior at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, was shot and killed by police in Archdale, N.C., on Sunday. Authorities suspect the killing may have been a suicidal incident.  According to the Houston Chronicle, police in Archdale received a 911 call at about 4:54 a.m. from a motorist on Interstate 85 who asked for help and said he was suicidal.  When officers located the car and pulled it over, an altercation ensued and Smith was shot. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. Smith, 21, graduated from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory School in west Houston in 2007. He majored in biology and was president of the Chapel Hill chapter of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity
