Jorge Ramos, evening news anchor at Univision, spoke at the inauguration of the “This is the Time” campaign Tuesday.

Univision, in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education, launched a three-year media campaign to encourage and support Latino families and their children's academic achievement. Many other civil rights, educational and community organizations will be involved in strengthening coalitions to promote college readiness and decrease the drop-out rate for Hispanic high school students.

The "Es El Momento," or "This is the Time," campaign will feature award-winning journalist Jorge Ramos as the spokesperson and ambassador. The project will include public service announcements, commercials, special television programming, scholarships and a fully loaded Web site with resource links and information.

Sources say the goal is to foster a college-going culture and prioritize parental engagement in Latino students success. For more information visit: eselmomento.com
