Albertson College has been awarded a second-year grant of $29,403 from the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership to encourage students to become entrepreneurs by gaining hands-on experience working with Idaho businesses.

The American Council on Education Fellows Program has received a $300,000, three-year grant from the Henry Luce Foundation to enhance the use of information technology in its leadership development curriculum.

Auburn University in Alabama is the recipient of a $1.05 million gift from the BellSouth Corp. The contribution will be used for the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering's minority engineering program.

Elmhurst College in Illinois received a bequest of $2.7 million from the Robinson family, class of 1940. The gift will be used to help build a "model small-college library."

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation. The grant will be used to help enhance the academic and career success of Hispanic higher education students.

North Carolina A&T State University has been awarded a $272,960 Shared University Research grant from IBM. The grant will be used to purchase equipment for the Manufacturing Systems Department in the School of Technology.

Purdue University Graduate School's Office of Minority Affairs received a $1.9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. The grant will fund an outreach program aimed at potential researchers, support 10 doctoral students and support a formal mentoring program at the West Lafayette, Ind., school.

Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., received $11 million from deceased philanthropist Lucille Stewart Beeson. The money will be used to pay for a scholarship program that could benefit as many as 50 students a year.
Savannah State University received a $1 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. The grant will fund the university's Minority Biomedical Research Support program.
