Dr. Michael Eric Dyson will become DePaul University's first Ida B. Wells-Barnett University Professor next fall. It is the first university-wide professorship at the Chicago institution. Dyson will leave his post as visiting distinguished professor of African American studies at Columbia University. He earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Carson-Newman College; and master's and doctoral degrees in religion, both from Princeton University.
Rodell Lawrence has been appointed executive assistant to the president at Stillman College (Ala.). He has served as a corporate senior manager and has 20 years experience in technical, strategic, and tactical management. Lawrence earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from South Carolina University.
Dr. Clifford Young has been appointed executive assistant to the president at California State University-San Bernardino. He currently is chair and a professor of public administration at CSUSB. Young earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from California Baptist College; and master's and doctoral degrees in public administration, both from the University of Southern California.
Honors
Dr. Sandra Gibson, director of Barry University's School of Nursing Primary Care Nursing Center, was honored recently with the 11th annual "In the Company of Women" award. Sponsored by the Miami-Dade County Mayor, Board of Commissioners, and the Park and Recreation Department, the award recognizes outstanding women who have made significant contributions to the quality of life in Miami-Dade. Gibson earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Tuskegee University; a master's degree in nursing from East Carolina University; and a doctorate in education from Nova University.
