California State University-Northridge has received a grant from the federal government for $40,000 over the next three years to support innovative community service-learning projects at the university.
George Mason University (Virginia) has received a $100,000 scholarship endowment from Soza & Company Ltd. The funding will be used for graduates of the university’s nationally recognized Early Identification Program.
Howard University’s School of Communication (Washington) has received an $800,000 gift for scholarships to journalism students from the estate of Grace Halsell, author of Soul Sister.
Miami-Dade Community College has been awarded two grants totaling $3.6 million from the U.S. Department of Education to support and expand programs serving Hispanic and minority students.
The University of South Florida Center for Leadership in Public Health Practice was recently named one of seven Centers for Public Health Preparedness by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The designation comes with $1.1 million in federal funding over the next two and a half years.
Winston Salem State University’s Department of Nursing in the School of Health Sciences has received a one-year $45,000 North Carolina Association of Health Education Centers grant to enhance the satellite registered nurse and bachelor’s of science nursing programs in Wilkesboro and Boone, N.C.
