Professional Appointments

Dr. LaRue Allen has been appointed associate dean for academic affairs at New York University's School of Education. Formerly the chairwoman of the department of applied psychology, she also served as director of the Child and Family Policy Center. Allen earned a bachelor's from Harvard and master's and doctorate degrees in psychology from Yale University.

Dr. Victor E. Bibbins Sr. has been appointed dean of student development for the Manassas campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Bibbins was the chief executive officer of Consolidated Counseling Associates of Bowie, Md. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Michigan University and a doctorate from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Dr. Karen A. Chandler has been named director of the College of Charleston's Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture in South Carolina. Previously, Chandler was director of the college's arts management program. Chandler earned a bachelor's from Hampton University, a master's from Columbia University and a doctorate from New York University.
Dr. Jonathan David Farley is one of four people in the country to receive a 2001-02 Fulbright Distinguished Scholar award to the United Kingdom. Farley is a mathematics professor at Vanderbilt University. He earned a bachelor's from Harvard University and a doctorate in mathematics from Oxford
University.

Dr. Dorothy Ige has been named dean of the college of arts and sciences at Indiana University Northwest. Ige has served as professor of communications since 1985 and also as associate dean of arts and sciences. Ige earned a bachelor's from Southeast Missouri State University, a master's from Central Missouri University and a doctorate from Ohio State University.

Dr. Mordean Taylor-Archer is the new vice provost for diversity and equal opportunity at the University of Louisville. Previously, she was associate provost for diversity and dual career development at Kansas State University. Taylor-Archer earned a bachelor's from the University of the Ozarks, a master's from the University of Arkansas and a doctorate from Brandeis University.
