Delaware State University’s School of Management has received a grant of $500,000 from MBNA America Bank, N.A. as part of the corporation’s commitment to provide the institution with significant financial support over the next five years. In addition, the university’s Department of Agriculture received $10,000 from John T. and Lucille Moor Sr. to establish an endowed scholarship for agriculture students.

Essex County College received a four-year $258,861 U.S. Department of Education grant to expand pre-school child care services for low-income parents attending ECC.

North Carolina A&T State University received $1.22 million from the Office of Naval Research to develop alternative materials and manufacturing technology to be used in the construction of military ships. In addition, the university also received $199,981 from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy to develop an alloy-based membrane to improve the production of high-purity hydrogen for use in fuel cell-powered vehicles.

Miami-Dade Community College recently received a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Defense, Army Research Office, to equip a new engineering laboratory at the college’s Inter-American Campus.

The University of South Florida received a $1.1 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to continue research on finding a vaccine for Alzheimer’s disease.

Yale University’s Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS has received a five-year $1.5 million award from the Fogarty International Center to establish an HIV research and training collaboration with the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
