The American Society of Safety Engineers will receive a $25,000 donation from the United Parcel Service (UPS) for the formation of the society’s UPS Diversity Scholarship Program, which focuses on minority students in the field of professional safety.

Cleveland State University’s College of Education has been awarded $1 million in federal funding for its K-16 Urban School Leadership Initiative.

Howard University Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry in the College of Medicine has been awarded $6.5 million from the National Institute of Mental Health for a five-year project to implement and develop research studies pertaining to mood and anxiety disorders.
Kirkwood Community College’s (Iowa) AgKnowledge program received a $3 million grant from the National Science Foundation. The grant will be used to institutionalize science, math and technology into community college agriculture programs across the nation.

New School University (N.Y.) has received a gift of $1.1 million from Bernard L. Schwartz, Chairman and CEO of Loral Space and Communications, to create the “Bernard L. Schwartz Lecture Series and Project in Markets, Equality and Democracy.”
North Carolina Central University received a $233,850 gift from the late Georgia Williams Barbee McCullum.  The gift from the alumna will be used to create scholarships and student aid awards to deserving students who pursue careers in health education and music.

The Wells Fargo Nevada Foundation recently announced its commitment to donate a minimum of $3 million to the eight institutions of the University and Community College System of Nevada.
