Hampton University to Hold Second Annual Technology Conference

HAMPTON, Va.
This April, Hampton University is holding a technology conference to highlight cyber security issues and to showcase ways that schools can obtain federal funding in technology, according to university officials. The conference, which will take place at the school's campus in Hampton, Va., is scheduled April
3-5.
The conference co-sponsor is the Advanced Technology Program, an initiative of the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the U.S. Commerce Department. The conference is designed to alert higher education institutions and other organizations to the more than "$1 billion of funding opportunities available for advanced technology research from federal government agencies."
Confirmed speakers include B. Keith Fulton of AOL Time Warner, Connie Jacobs of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Program, and Maurice Swinton of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Virginia Gov. Mark Warner and attorney Willie E. Gary are among the event's invited speakers.
Hampton, which has been recognized as a Yahoo! Internet Life "Most Wired Campus," last year sponsored a technology conference whose theme was bridging the digital divide.
Information on the conference can be viewed at <www.hamptonu.edu/Interests/-Calendar/CIT_conf/CITIndex.htm>.
