Pennsylvania Awards Technology Grants to Colleges

HARRISBURG, Pa.
Pennsylvania's education secretary Charles B. Zogby has announced $4.1 million in grants for 23 Pennsylvania colleges and universities to improve campus information technology for students. Historically Black Lincoln University, located outside of Philadelphia, was among the schools receiving an Improving Technology at Colleges and Universities (ITCU) grant from the state.
"In today's high-tech, fast-paced world, college students use more than books to study, research and learn. These grants will help Pennsylvania colleges and universities get up-to-date computers and software  — and help them use their technology more effectively to teach our students," Zogby says.
The ITCU program offers competitive grants of up to $250,000. Lincoln University's grant award is $127,192. Successful proposals met one or more of the grant program's criteria. All public and private higher education institutions chartered by the Department of Education that offer associate, undergraduate and graduate degrees were eligible to apply.
