Professional Appointments

Laura-Lee Davidson has been appointed vice president for information services and institutional research at Wilberforce University in Ohio. Previously, Davidson was program manager for the Technology Transfer Project at the Executive Leadership Council and Foundation in Washington. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
 
Dr. Fred J. Gainous has been appointed the ninth president of Florida A&M University. Previously, Gainous served as chancellor of the Alabama College System for 14 years. He earned his bachelor’s from Florida A&M University, and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Florida. 

Dr. William L. Pollard is the new president of the University of the District of Columbia. Previously, Pollard served as dean of the School of Social Work at Syracuse University. Pollard earned a bachelor’s from Shaw University, a master’s from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a doctorate from the University of Chicago.                                 

JoAnn R. Raines has been named director of student and alumni development in the Division of Career Development Services at New Jersey Institute of Technology. She earned a bachelor’s from St. John’s University and a master’s from Columbia University.

Robert M. Ussery has been promoted to the position of assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs for institutional research at North Carolina A&T State University. Ussery earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Carolina University.

Dr. James H. Wyche has been appointed vice provost and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami. Most recently, he was interim president of Tougaloo College in Mississippi. Wyche earned a bachelor’s from Cornell University, a master’s from Brown University and a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University.
