Professional Appointments

Dr. Ruby Evans has been named associate professor of educational research, technology and leadership at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Prior to this position, Evans was an associate professor of educational research at Florida A&M University. She earned a bachelor's from Grambling University, a master's from Louisiana State University and a doctorate from the University of Florida.

Dr. Kathleen B. Kennedy has been named associate dean of the college of pharmacy at Xavier University in Louisiana. Kennedy joined the faculty in 1979, but left in 1994 to work in the pharmaceutical industry at Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., where she became a regional associate director. She earned a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Linda Lacey has been appointed dean of the graduate school at New Mexico State University. Previously, Lacey was associate dean of the graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a bachelor's degree in social science from the University of California at Berkeley and a master's and doctorate in city and regional planning from Cornell University.

Dr. Albert L. Walker has been named the new president of Bluefield State College in West Virginia. Previously he was vice chancellor for academic affairs at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. Walker earned a bachelor's degree from Lincoln University in Missouri and three master's degrees from Bradley University in Illinois. He also earned a doctorate from Indiana University.

Dr. Amos White IV has been appointed deputy provost at Bowie State University. Most recently, White was professor of art and chairman of the faculty council. He earned a bachelor's degree from Alabama State University, a master's from the University of Southern California and a doctorate from the University of Maryland.

Dr. James G. Wingate has been named the new president of LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tenn. Most recently he was executive assistant to the chancellor of Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina. He earned a bachelor's from Allen University, a master's from the State University of New York at Oswego and a doctorate from Syracuse University.
