NAFEO, 100 Black Men Team Up in Scholarship Effort WASHINGTON
The National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO) and the 100 Black Men of America Inc. have entered into an historic agreement to send promising and talented students to historically and predominantly Black colleges and universities.
The agreement, which was signed during the 100 Black Men of America's Annual Fall Leadership Conference, calls for the two groups to structure a matching undergraduate scholarship program for qualified students sponsored by the 100 Black Men who wish to attend a NAFEO institution. It also requires the 100 Black Men to further provide mentoring relationships and internship opportunities for the youths throughout college.
"Today's historic agreement between NAFEO and the 100 Black Men of America will help to ensure that thousands of our children are well-educated and well-prepared for economic self-reliance in the 21st century," said Dr. Frederick S. Humphries, President and CEO of NAFEO, during a press conference announcing the partnership.
In addition, the groups will work together to bridge the digital divide that impedes the scholastic success of too many African American students by providing 100 Black Men chapters access to the NAFEO/Gateway Computer agreement, which provides NAFEO institutions, students, faculty, staff and alumni special pricing on Gateway computers.
