Linda Burgess is the new head women’s basketball coach at Stillman College in Alabama. Burgess previously served as assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of West Alabama. She has a 13-year professional playing career including overseas and the WNBA, most recently with the Sacramento Monarchs. Burgess earned a bachelor’s from the University of Alabama.
Monette Evans is the new vice president/director of admissions and enrollment management at Tuskegee University in Alabama. Previously, Evans was assistant director of admissions at Columbia University. She earned a bachelor’s from Columbia University and two master’s degrees from a joint Carnegie Mellon/Columbia University program.
DaNine J. Fleming has been named director of Minority Student Affairs and Cultural Diversity at Slippery Rock University (Pa.). Previously, she was coordinator of minority-student retention at the College of Charleston (S.C.). Fleming earned a bachelor’s from Claflin University, a master’s from the University of Charleston and an education specialist degree from South Carolina State University.
Dr. Jane Gates was named dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Savannah State University. Gates earned a bachelor’s from Arkansas State University, a master’s from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and a doctorate from Southern Illinois University.
Dr. SHEILA T. GREGORY was named associate professor of educational leadership and higher education administration at Clark Atlanta University. Previously, she was assistant clinical professor of educational leadership and policy studies at Wayne State University in Detroit. Gregory received a bachelor’s from Oakland University, a master’s from Wayne State and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Don Anthony Woods has been appointed dean of Texas Southern University’s re-established School of Public Affairs. Previously Woods was director of the cooperative association of state scholarship programs at Kentucky State University. He earned a bachelor’s from Tennessee State University, a master’s from the University of Tennessee and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh.
