Lincoln University (Pa.) received a $1 million contribution from the Oxford Foundation to renovate Ware Fine Arts, Theatre and Studio.

Loyola Marymount University (Calif.) received a pledge of $3.5 million from alumnus R. Chad Dreier, president of the Ryland Group, to endow a program to add accounting ethics courses.

The National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) Inc. has received a 10-year, $1 million grant from the Northrop Grumman Foundation to support the organization’s portfolio of programs and services and to increase the representation of successful African American, American Indian and Latino women and men in engineering and technology, math- and science-based careers.

New School University’s Parsons School of Design (N.Y.) received a $7 million gift from Sheila C. Johnson, co-founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET), to create a new center of innovation for Parsons. This is the largest gift in the school’s 107-year history.

Old Dominion University (Va.) received a $32 million gift from former communications executive Frank Batten Sr., the largest gift the public institution has received. The gift will be used to primarily strengthen science and technology programs.

The University of Missouri-Rolla received a $30,000 grant from NASA to study defects in the space agency’s foam insulation.

Wiley College (Texas) received $100,000 from two-time heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman. The gift has been earmarked for several programs with $15,000 going to the men’s basketball program.

Xavier University (La.) received a $1 million grant from the Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions for scholarships for Native Americans.
