Gateway Computer Distributes HBCU CD-ROMPOWAY, Calif.
A  partnership between Gateway Inc. and a New York city marketing firm has introduced a CD-ROM that celebrates the legacy of historically Black colleges and universities, and provides information and Internet links to those institutions.
“The Key: An Interactive Guide to Historically Black Colleges and Universities” CD-ROM was created by Ember Media and is being distributed at Gateway stores and events nationwide. The CD-ROM provides valuable information on HBCUs and higher education opportunities for underserved teens. More than 300,000 students are enrolled at more than 100 HBCUs nationwide.
“At Gateway, we believe that the power of learning can transform communities,” says Hector Placentia, director of growth markets for Gateway.
” ‘The Key’ truly accomplishes that goal, offering an innovative way to educate high school students and provide families with the tools they need to make informed decisions about higher education.”
Going beyond typical college brochures and campus visits, “The Key” offers a comprehensive database of profiles for more than 100 HBCUs, including interactive tutorials on how to write admission essays and properly fill out applications. In addition, the CD-ROM features Web links for admissions and financial aid, music downloads and an animated history of the founding of HBCUs.
