California State University-Northridge, along with Community Charter Middle School, received a $7,500 grant from the Women’s Sports Foundation for a new sports program geared toward girls.

Clemson University (S.C.) received a $1 million gift from BB&T Corp. The money, which will be given over five years, will be used to support the BB&T Center for Economic Education and Policy Studies.

The Daniels Fund donated $2 million in college scholarships to 10 Colorado colleges and universities. Adams State College, Community College of Denver, Northeastern Junior College, Pueblo Community College and Trinidad State Junior College each will receive $200,000 Daniels Service Opportunity Awards for GED recipients. In addition, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Fort Lewis College, Metro State College of Denver, University of Northern Colorado and Western State College will each receive $200,000 Daniels Opportunity Awards for continuing and transfer students.

Elmhurst College’s (Ill.) Center for Business and Economics received a software donation from Logility, a leading supplier of business-to-business collaborative commerce solutions, valued at $1 million.

The University of Virginia received a $22 million pledge for a new performing arts center and $1.5 million to start a marching band from Carl and Hunter Smith.

North Carolina A&T State University received $30,000 from General Dynamics Network Systems to create scholarships for the university’s Diversity in Engineering Program. In addition, the Exelon Corp. recently awarded the university’s College of Engineering $25,000. The funds will be used to create scholarships for engineering students.
