The American Association of Community Colleges has received a $1.9 million grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to develop a program that seeks to prepare a new generation of leaders for America's largest higher education sector. In addition, the Kellogg Foundation awarded $2.4 million over six years to the American Dental Education Association "to promote health systems change that is focused on primary care, prevention and public health by building a network of universities and organizations focused on developing health leadership."

The College of New Rochelle's School of New Resources (N.Y.) received a $100,000 grant from the Consolidated Edison Co. of
New York Inc., to enhance technology infrastructure, purchase new equipment and software, and provide ongoing maintenance and training for faculty and students at the Rosa Parks Campus in Harlem.

Indiana University-Purdue's Frederick Douglass Papers Project received a $100,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The grant will complete the third volume of Douglass' autobiographical writings.

Johnson C. Smith University (N.C.) received $500,000 from the Department of Education to continue its Upward Bound program, which helps students bridge the gap between high school and college.

University of La Verne (Calif.) received a $400,000 grant from The James Irvine Foundation to design college-specific databooks and create an infrastructure within the academic units that supports underserved students, to enable academic units to improve their delivery of services, and to establish indicators that gauge institutional effectiveness.

The University of Miami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center received a $10 million donation from the Papanicolaou Corps for Cancer Research.
