Delores Barton is the new chief information officer at Spelman College in Atlanta. Barton has been serving as the interim director of media and information technology since November 2002. Barton earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Clemson University.

 

 

Sherri Harris has been named women's basketball coach at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Previously, Harris served as assistant coach at Alabama State University. During her tenure at Alabama State, she helped the women's basketball team to a Southwestern Athletic Conference championship. Harris earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Alabama State University.

 

 

Vicki Minor has been named executive director of institutional advancement at Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas. Previously, she served as the development officer for Texas Southern University. Minor earned a bachelor's degree in marketing management from Texas Southern.

 

 

Dr. Pedro Noguera has joined the faculty of the School of Education at New York University. He will head a center that will support outreach to and research on urban schools. Noguera is a professor at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Brown University and a doctorate in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

 

 

Dr. Stanley M. Nyirenda has been appointed director of institutional research assessment and evaluation at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Nyirenda previously served as director of institutional research at Davenport University in Michigan. Nyirenda earned a master's degree from the University of Wales and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh.

 

 

Marvin H. Watkins has been named special assistant to the vice chancellor for research at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Watkins most recently served as director of the Office of Research and Sponsored programs at North Carolina Central University. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from North Carolina A&T.
