Austin College (Texas) received $3 million in gifts from three trustees of the college. Beverly and William “Bill” E. Warren committed $1 million to establish the Michael A. Imhoff Endowed Professorship in Chemistry, and Dennis Gonier committed $1 million in support of the campaign, funding scholarships, Internet services for alumni, as well as other college needs. An anonymous third donor committed $1 million to support scholarships and beautification projects.

Kentucky State University’s School of Education and Health Services Area of Applied Human Sciences received over $380,000 in grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Families and Children. The funds will be used to start Jumpstart and the Onward/Upward mentoring children of Incarcerated Parents program. The two new youth-mentoring programs are to serve the children throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

New School University (N.Y.) received a $10 million grant and a $3.7 million grant from the Starr Foundation and the Bernard & Irene Schwartz Foundation, respectively. The Starr Foundation’s funding is for the establishment of the India China Institute. The Schwartz Foundation funding is to go toward establishing the Bernard Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis and to endow the Irene and Bernard L. Schwartz Professor of Economics and Policy.

The Shodor Education Foundation and North Carolina Central University received a $2.8 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The money will be used to open a new Pathway to the National Science Digital Library, NSF’s online library of resources for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

University of Oregon received a $500,000 grant from Hanyang University, a private university in South Korea, to fund student and faculty exchanges. The money will also go for renovations at the campus International Resource Center, a lounge, library and study area for international students.
