Arizona State University received a $15 million gift from philanthropist Julie Ann Wrigley. The gift will be used to create the International Institute for Sustainability to study and look for solutions to ecological, economic and societal issues.
Case Western Reserve University's (Ohio) master of fine arts theater program received a $750,000, three-year grant from the Cleveland Foundation. The grant will be used to strengthen the program that is jointly operated by Case and The Cleveland Play House.
Coppin State University's (Md.) Rehabilitation Counseling Program received a $750,000 five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education Rehabilitation Services Administration. The grant will provide full scholarships for 60 students and will also provide for two paid graduate assistants.
Essex County College (N.J.) received a $69,500 public/private grant award from Hewlett-Packard. The grant will allow the college to develop a specialized computer lab for engineering technology students.
Fayetteville State University (N.C.) received a grant for $2,537,652 from the National Institutes of Health National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities. The grant will be used to upgrade the capacity of FSU to establish a center of excellence in social and behavioral health disparities.
LeMoyne-Owen College (Tenn.) received a $100,000 gift from the family of the late Columbus S. Bell Jr. '41. The donation is part of the Bell family's continued commitment to fund an endowed scholarship in memory of the late alumnus.
Tuskegee University (Ala.) received $8,000 from ExxonMobil as part of a program for support to the College of Engineering, Architecture and Physical Sciences and the Freshman Accelerated Start-up and Training for Retention in Engineering Curricula (FASTREC) Program.
University of Great Falls (Mont.) received a $2.3 million gift from Genesio Morlacci, a former part-time janitor at the school, who died at age 102. This endowment will generate roughly $100,000 a year for scholarships at the Roman Catholic school.
