Dr. Derrick Cogburn has been named assistant professor of information studies at Syracuse University. Previously, Cogburn was assistant professor of information and African studies at the University of Michigan. Cogburn received a bachelor's from the University of Oklahoma, and a master's and doctorate from Howard University.
Tia Marie Doxey has been named associate director for residential life at North Carolina Central University. Prior to her appointment, she served as the residence life coordinator and assistant director at North Carolina State University. Doxey received her bachelor's from West Virginia University and her master's from North Carolina State University.
Verdell Hayes has been named the director of the Mazie S. Woodruff Center at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, N.C. As director of the center, she will be in charge of the overall supervision and operations of the facilities and programs. Hayes earned a bachelor's from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C.
Dr. Freddye L. Hill is the new vice president for campus life at Dillard University in New Orleans. She has more than 28 years of experience in higher education as a professor and administrator. She earned a bachelor's from Spelman College, and her master's and doctorate from Northwestern University.
Derita Ratcliffe is the new athletic director at Kentucky State University. Previously she was a former assistant athletic director and senior women's administrator at Eastern Kentucky University. Ratcliffe earned a bachelor's from James Madison University and a master's from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Dr. Eileen Wilson-Oyelaran has been named president of Kalamazoo College in Michigan effective in June. She currently serves as dean and vice president at Salem College, a private liberal arts college for women in North Carolina. She earned a bachelor's from Pomona College, and a master's and doctorate from the Claremont Graduate University in California.
