Dr. Carolyn Buck has been named dean of learning support services at Columbia College in California. Most recently she was the articulation officer at San Diego Mesa College. Buck earned a bachelor's from Bennett College, a master's from North Carolina A&T State University and a joint doctorate from San Diego State University and Claremont Graduate University.

Dr. Ken Harewood has been appointed the Glaxo Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology at North Carolina Central University. He is currently the director of the Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/ Biotechnology Research Institute. Harewood earned a bachelor's degree from New York University and master's and doctoral degrees from City College of the City University of  New York.

Dr. Mernoy E. Harrison Jr. has been named vice president and provost for Arizona State University's downtown Phoenix campus. He has worked for Arizona State since 1997. Most recently, he was executive vice president for administration and finance at ASU. He earned a bachelor's and MBA from Stanford University, and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Lynette D. Land has been named assistant professor of education at the University of Utah. She holds a joint appointment in the Educational Leadership and Policy department and ethnic studies program. Land earned a bachelor's from Western Illinois University, a master's from Drake University and a doctorate from Iowa State University.

Dr. Delila Owens has been appointed assistant professor in the counselor education department at Wayne State University in Detroit. Owens earned a bachelor's from Ferris State University, a master's from Central Michigan University and a doctorate from Michigan State University.


Dr. Maureen H. Powers is the new vice president for student affairs at the City College of New York. Powers had been dean of students at the Institute for the International Education of Students in Chicago since 1999. Powers earned a bachelor's from Georgetown University, a master's from Saint Louis University and a doctorate from Indiana University.
