Dr. Agatha Awuah has been named director of institutional research and planning at Onondaga Community College. Previously she served as a research analyst at SUNY Binghamton. Awuah holds a bachelor’s from the University of Ghana, a master’s from the Queens University in Canada, and a second master’s and doctorate from Michigan State University.
Dr. John M. Berry has been appointed vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of the Foundation at Lincoln University in Missouri. Most recently he served as director of development at Winston-Salem State University. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s from Southern University in New Orleans and his doctorate from the Union Institute and University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Thomas G. Coley was recently appointed president of Scott Community College in Bettendorf, Iowa. Coley is currently vice president for instruction and student services at Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill. He earned a bachelor’s from Moorhead State University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dr. Eric Conway is the new director of the Morgan State University Choir and chair of the department of fine arts. He has served as an associate conductor and principal accompanist for the Morgan State choir for the past 20 years and was serving as interim
director. Conway earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Conservatory.
Dr. Edward W. (Ned) Hill has been named to the newly created position of vice president for economic development at Cleveland State University. He earned a bachelor’s from the University of Pennsylvania, and a master’s and a doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Carlton Pickron has been named dean of academic retention at Westfield State College. Previously he served as associate dean academic affairs/director of academic advising and assistant to the president at the college. Pickron earned his bachelor’s and master’s from Springfield College and his doctorate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Eugene Marshall Jr., the newly named deputy director of athletics at the United States Military Academy at West Point, has been elected president of the Black Coaches Association. Most recently, he served as the athletic director at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Marshall received a bachelor’s from Northeastern University and master’s from Kensington University.
Dr. Vann Newkirk has been promoted to vice president of institutional research and planning at North Carolina Wesleyan College. Previously he served as associate vice president. Newkirk earned a bachelor’s from Barber-Scotia College, masters’ from Winthrop University and North Carolina Central University and a doctorate from Howard University.
Dr. John Omachonu has been named associate dean of the College of Mass Communication at Middle Tennessee State University. He is also a full professor with tenure in the department of electronic media communication at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J. Omachonu earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from Howard University.
Dr. Aida Rodriguez has been named associate dean for academic affairs at New School University’s Milano Graduate School. She is the former chairwoman of the university’s nonprofit management program and professor of professional practice. Rodriguez earned a bachelor’s from Princeton University, and a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Robin A. Smith has been appointed director of community affairs and government relations at Thomas Edison State College. Prior to joining the college, Smith was community relations coordinator with Capital Health System in Trenton. She earned a bachelor’s from Rutgers University.
Dr. Li-An Yeh has been appointed director of the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise at North Carolina Central University. Most recently she served as research advisor in lead generation biology for Eli Lilly & Co. Yeh earned a bachelor’s from National Taiwan University in Taipei, a master’s from Kent State University and a doctorate from Purdue University.
