Professional Appointments

Clayton Cobb has been named director of multicultural affairs at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. He previously served as assistant director for registered student organizations and multicultural programs at Illinois State University. Cobb earned a bachelor's in English from Viterbo College in Wisconsin and a master's in the cultural foundation's of education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Dr. Cheryl Johnson-Odim has been appointed chair of the Liberal Education department at Columbia College-Chicago.  Johnson-Odim comes to Columbia College from Loyola University, where she was chair of the history department. She earned a bachelor's cum laude in history from Youngstown State University, and a doctorate in African history from Northwestern University.

James LaCour has been appointed assistant to the president for equity issues at Southeast Missouri State University. Most recently, he was director of the office of affirmative action/equal opportunity and employment diversity at the University of Northern Colorado. LaCour earned a bachelor's in human resources management from Park College and a master's in education from Northern Arizona University.

Dr. Bennie Lambert is the new dean of enrollment management at North Harris College in Houston. Prior to this appointment, he was director of admissions. Lambert earned a bachelor's and master's in business and psychology from Baylor University and a doctorate in educational human resource development from Texas A&M University.

E. Dean Montgomery has been named vice president of fiscal affairs at Bethune-Cookman College. Previously, he was vice president for business affairs at Voorhees College in South Carolina. Montgomery earned a bachelor's in business administration from Benedict College in Columbia, S.C., and a master's in business education from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo.

Joe G. Sampson is the new director of public safety/chief of police at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, Calif. He brings years of experience as a police officer for the cities of La Palma, Santa Ana and Orange, as a former high school teacher and, most recently, as director of multicultural programs at Concordia University. Sampson earned a bachelor's in bilingual education from the University of La Verne, and a master's in education with emphasis in religious education/crosscultural studies from Concordia University.
