The University of Florida College of Engineering received a $1,025,000 grant from the Harris Corp., a communications equipment company headquartered in Melbourne, Fla. The gift will be used to endow multiple professorships in UF’s engineering program.
The University of Hawaii Pacific Business Center Program received $250,000 from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs to improve the level of private sector-led economic development in the U.S. insular areas. These areas consist of American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, the Republics of Palau and the Marshall Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The University of Memphis received a five-year, $5 million grant from FedEx Corp. to support the work of the University of Memphis’ FedEx Institute of Technology. The money will help build the infrastructure for conducting key research, facilitate the recruitment of new faculty members, and support Institute initiatives such as its Vision Speakers Series and a residency program for innovators, artists and CEOs.
