Technologist Featured On ‘The Apprentice’

NEWARK, N.J.

Dr. Randal Pinkett, a Rhodes Scholar and an Arthur Ashe Scholar named by the former Black Issues In Higher Education magazine, has been selected to compete on NBC’s reality television show, “The Apprentice.” One of 18 people competing in this season’s show to become an executive under real estate mogul Donald Trump, Pinkett was chosen from among more than a million applicants.

In recent years, following his attainment of a doctorate from the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab program (see Black Issues In Higher Education, March 15, 2001), Pinkett founded and has headed BCT Partners, which is located in the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Enterprise Development Center in Newark. BCT Partners is a management, technology and policy consulting services firm that works with corporations, government agencies and nonprofit organizations in multiple industries, including housing and community development, economic development, human services, nonprofit and community technology and education.

An accomplished engineer and computer scientist, Pinkett is a fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation’s Next Generation Leadership program. The National Society of Black Engineers named him their National Member of the Year. He was also an NCAA Academic All-American and received the Triumph Award from the New Jersey Martin Luther King Commemorative Commission.
