Students Rally for Ousted Morgan State President

BALTIMORE — More than 200 people turned out to rally Friday in support of Morgan State University’s president, whose contract has not been extended.

A group of faculty, administrators and students also called Thursday for a reversal of the university board’s decision. The University Council says the board violated school bylaws by not announcing the purpose of the meeting where President David J. Wilson’s contract was not renewed.

The Baltimore Sun reports (http://bsun.md/W91kNO) that the 8-7 vote by the board last week was made public on Monday. Board chairman Dallas R. Evans told the newspaper he could not comment on the decision, saying it was a human resources issue protected by privacy laws.
