Oberlin Dean Named Next Kenyon College President

GAMBIER, Ohio — A dean at Oberlin College has been named the next president of Kenyon College.

Kenyon’s board of trustees voted unanimously on Sunday to hire Sean Decatur. The 44-year-old has served as the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Oberlin College since 2008.

Kenyon officials say Decatur is a strong supporter of undergraduate research and faculty-and-student collaboration. He’ll start work at Kenyon on July 1.

Decatur said in a written statement that he has admired the institution for some time. He says it’s “among those colleges that form a powerful crucible for the transformation of students.”

Kenyon College has an enrollment of about 1,650 students. Its campus is about 50 miles northeast of Columbus.
