Professional Appointments

Vernell Patrick has been appointed executive vice president and provost at Essex County College in Newark, N.J. Prior to assuming this post, he served as the executive officer providing administrative support to the president. Patrick earned an associate degree from Staten Island College, a bachelor’s from the City College of New York, a master’s from Morgan State University and a law degree from Seton Hall University Law School.

Dr. Kim Patterson was recently appointed director of multicultural and TRIO student support services at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He most recently served as educational advising specialist for the university. Patterson earned a bachelor’s from UA, a master’s from Colgate Rochester Divinity School and a doctorate from Regent University.

Dr. E. Michael Sutton has been named assistant provost for undergraduate programs and assistant professor of education at Winston-Salem State University. Most recently he was assistant professor of higher education at Appalachian State University. Sutton earned a bachelor’s from WSSU, a master’s from Southern Illinois University and a doctorate from Iowa State University.

Willie Williams has been named associate vice chancellor for human resources at Houston Community College. Most recently he served as interim director of human resources at HCC. Williams earned a bachelor’s from Southern University in Louisiana and a master’s from Texas Southern University.

The Course Curriculum Specialist/Instructional Designer reports to the Coordinator of Curriculum & Assessment and provides leadership and support in the implementation of all CVTC course-level curriculum and instructional design services including overseeing WIDS entry/maintenance and carrying out Quality Matters® initiatives.
