SACS Continues Probation Status for Talladega College
TALLADEGA, Ala.
Probation for Talladega College will continue for another year, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools announced on its Web site after a second review.
The historically Black college failed to meet one core requirement for resources, two comprehensive standards involving the library, learning resources and finances and a federal requirement regarding student assistance.
Although the college still has several things to work on, SACS found some areas have improved, The Daily Home of Talladega reported. Two standards the school did not meet last year — involving financial stability and appropriate control over resources — have been met this year.
With fund raising becoming a top priority since President Oscar L. Prater’s term officially began in January, officials hope the school is on track to shed its probationary status by the final review next December. According to the SACS Web site, accreditation will be lost if the association finds the school has not met standards by fall 2006.
